Wisconsin State Bar Names New Executive Director


Christopher Carson has been a practicing attorney in the New Berlin, Wisconsin, area for more than two decades. A member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Carson looks forward to the State Bar's annual meeting in June. 

According to Carson, the annual meeting provides high-quality resources for professional growth, as well as numerous networking opportunities. Carson notes, "There will be something for everyone." 

The State Bar of Wisconsin recently announced that it has selected Larry Martin to serve as its new executive director. He currently serves as the associate executive director for the organization and is set to assume his new role with the state bar on July 1, 2017, when the organization’s current executive director, George Brown, begins his retirement. 

Martin held various executive leadership roles in both the public and private sector before joining the Wisconsin State Bar. He has served as the executive director of the Wisconsin Library Association and the Dane Fund, which now operates as Forward Community Investments. He has also served in state government posts as the lieutenant governor’s chief of staff and a senior adviser to the governor.

Wisconsin prohibits any driver over the age of 21 from operating a motor vehicle under the influence of an intoxicating or controlled substance. The state defines “under the influence” as impaired in one's ability to operate a vehicle safely. Drivers' blood/breath alcohol concentration (BAC) must remain below 0.08 and there must be no detectable amount of restricted substances in the blood. For drivers who have received at least three convictions of operating while intoxicated (OWI), the BAC upper limit is 0.02.
